The Classes of 2003-04 defeated the Classes of 2006-07 by a score of 56-45 to repeat as the 2011 Alumni Boys’ Basketball Tournament champion over the weekend at Blair High School. The inside combination of Andy Auch and Dallas Flynn teamed for 29 points for 03-04. Donnie Wulf and Marcus Loudner combined for 20 points in outside shooting. John Hundtoft added 7 points for the winners. 03-04 led 27-24 at halftime, before pulling away in the second half. Other weekend team members for 03-04 included Kyle Brant, Matt Lippincott, and Justin Ptacnik. The Class of 2003 has figured in four championships and three runners-up in the last eight years of the tournament. PJ Mallette and Connor Smith led runner-up Classes of 06-07 with 11 points each. Eric Taylor added 8 points. Kyle Webster, Scott Neuhalfen, Jason Trulin, and Keegan Bloomfield combined for 15 points. Other weekend team members included Matt Dutton and Matt Isham. Last year’s runner-up, Classes of 1995-99, finished the tournament in third place by defeating the Class of 2010 by a score of 67-38. 95-99 built a 34-23 halftime lead and cruised to the win. Chris Rhoades led the winners with 23 points. Chris Wulf and Nick Cemer teamed for 23 points. Andy Sather, Troy Ray, Shawn Scables, and Chad Cemer combined for 21 points. Connor Ellis and Connor Gibson led 2010 as the two combined for 22 points. Ben Young, Jerad Petersen, and Zach Morris teamed for 19 points. Other weekend team members for 2010 included John Young and Craigan Metcalf. A total of nine alumni teams participated in the tournament. Proceeds go toward partially funding scholarships for BHS senior boys basketball players. The tournament is sponsored by the Blair Basketball Club. Tournament Director is Matt Sather. |
